Hyundai Motor Company and Škoda Group have agreed to work together on creating a hydrogen transportation system. They signed this partnership during the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague. Important figures at the signing included Ken Ramírez from Hyundai and Petr Novotný, the CEO of Škoda Group.
The agreement outlines plans for both companies to work together on using hydrogen fuel cells, finding energy-efficient solutions for transportation, and exploring hydrogen applications beyond just vehicles. Their goal is to speed up the shift to hydrogen energy, helping improve hydrogen technology and support global efforts for cleaner energy.
Ken Ramírez emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with Škoda Group will play a crucial role in accelerating hydrogen adoption, driving technological advancements, and promoting carbon neutrality in global markets, including the Czech Republic.”
Škoda Group CEO Petr Novotný echoed these sentiments, underscoring the role of hydrogen in sustainable mobility. “Hydrogen and energy-efficient solutions are pivotal in transforming mobility. By working with Hyundai, we aim to bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to a broader global market,” Novotný said.
Both companies believe that hydrogen is key to a sustainable future, especially in transportation. Hyundai will provide its fuel cell systems and technology to help introduce hydrogen-powered vehicles in areas where Škoda works, including the Czech Republic.
Besides transportation, Hyundai and Škoda will look into using hydrogen fuel cells in other areas. Hyundai will use its experience in both transportation and energy to take the lead in these efforts.
Hyundai is dedicated to building a hydrogen-based society through its HTWO brand, which covers all aspects of hydrogen. Its factory in Nošovice, Czech Republic, can produce 350,000 vehicles a year and plays an important role in the European car industry, supporting Hyundai’s long-term hydrogen goals.
