Hyundai will launch the updated Alcazar in India on September 9. This three-row SUV will have a significant makeover in its exterior and interior design, but the engine and mechanics are expected to stay the same. It will continue to compete with other SUVs like the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus in the Indian market.
Several sightings of the Alcazar facelift being tested suggest that it will have distinctive styling changes, setting it apart from the Creta, which also received a facelift this year. The split headlamp design is likely to stay similar, but the grille and front bumper will be different. The Alcazar will feature new alloy wheels, and the side claddings will be modified. At the back, there will be a brand-new tailgate with redesigned tail lights that combine both vertical and horizontal elements.
Inside, the updated Alcazar will have a dashboard similar to the one in the Creta facelift, featuring a twin-screen setup and soft-touch materials. It will continue to offer both 6- and 7-seater options. The engine choices will remain the same, with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 160hp and 253Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 1.5-liter diesel engine will deliver 116hp and 250Nm of torque, and will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Deliveries of the Alcazar facelift are expected to begin by mid to late September. The pre-facelift Alcazar costs between Rs 16.78 lakh and Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom), and the facelift is likely to be priced slightly higher.
