Amid numerous new manufacturing projects in a variety of industries, the Tata Group anticipates adding five lakh jobs over the next five years, according to Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran. The firm that turns salt into software recently revealed plans to invest in some new industries, including batteries, electric cars, and semiconductors.

The Tata Group employs over a million people and comprises 30 firms in ten business areas. Together, the Tata enterprises generated almost USD 165 billion in sales in 2023–2024.

With an investment of Rs 91,000 crore, Tata Electronics is establishing a semiconductor factory in Dholera, Gujarat, in collaboration with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC), Taiwan.

The facility will produce 28 nm high-performance computer circuits and power management chips for usage in consumer electronics, communications, and electric cars. It can produce 50,000 wafers per month. There are about 5,000 chips on a wafer.

In Morigaon, Assam, Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd is also spending Rs 27,000 crore on a semiconductor ATMP facility. With a 48 million chip production capacity daily, this plant will serve the automotive, consumer electronics, telecom, and electric vehicle industries.

The firm, which also owns Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors, is spending Rs 9,000 billion to build a new Jaguar Land Rover factory in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. The plant will be able to build more than 250,000 cars a year. Over the following five to seven years, production will start gradually and gradually rise to meet this capacity.

Regarding battery production, the Tata Group intends to use its renewable energy subsidiary Agratas to establish a 20 GWh battery manufacturing facility in Gujarat. A 40 GWh battery manufacturing facility is being established in the UK by the subsidiary in which the group has invested.
